Our entire nation mourns the hundreds of children who have died due to gun violence, but what about the hundreds of thousands of children who die every day because of abortion?
Inspired by a comment from his high school teacher, 17-year-old Brandon Gillespie of Rocklin High School in California decided to plan a pro-life walkout to protest the thousands of babies who die every day from legal abortion. This protest mirrors a similar walkout against gun violence in school.
On April 11, 2018, at 10 a.m. EDT, students around the country will walk out of class for 17 minutes to protest the murder of innocent children through abortion.
Gillespie wants to see if students will be allowed to protest the violent act of abortion without penalty from school administrators. “I would like to see if there really is a double standard and what will come of that,” Gillespie told local news sources. Whether or not Gillespie receives support from school administrators, he plans to go ahead with the walkout and practice his First Amendment right to free speech.
“Along with being a movement commemorating the millions of children who fell victim to abortion, [the pro-life] movement is one that stands for all students’ rights to freedoms of speech and assembly,” he told the National Review.
How to participate
Join Brandon and his classmates on April 11 at 10 a.m. EDT for a national walkout in protest of the atrocities committed by Planned Parenthood and others against preborn babies and their parents. The students plan to walk out of their classrooms for 17 minutes. Wear a pro-life shirt to make sure the purpose of the walkout is clearly identified.
Post on social media about the walkout using #life and #prolifewalkout. The news media won’t cover this walkout, so we have to make as much noise on social media as we can to show support for the babies.
Do you homeschool? Spend 17 minutes in prayer or silence in solidarity with those who will be participating in the walkout.
Want another easy way to share the pro-life message? On April 20, pro-lifers from around the world will don pro-life T-shirts in solidarity with preborn children for National Pro-Life T-Shirt Day. Pro-life activism doesn’t get any easier than this! Get your shirt at npltday.com.
